Giving back is the new black

Here in Alira we believe that giving back never goes out of style, so when our lovely client Marian Sabat told us that she wanted to make a donation to Locks of Love, we couldn't be happier to be a part of such an event.

For those who don’t know, Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis by utilizing donated ponytails to provide hair prosthetics.

Seeing as Marian's hair is very healthy, the procedure was quite easy: We gave it a quick wash and then braided it until we achieved the 10 inch braid that is required by Locks of Love. 

           After everything was said and done, both Marian and I were completely ecstatic over another Alira Transformation that would help little kids in need.

Turn Your Beauty Inside/Out

I was recently thinking about how many tough moments life throws at us during the length of our existence, and how so many of those times, we really feel defenceless or not capable of overcoming the challenges the universe makes us go through.

Having the life you want and deserve takes work, but it’s the kind of work that should make you happy in the process. That has been my experience, everyday I am grateful for everything good I have in my life and I have primarily myself to thank for that. The road to your happiness starts within you, and it’s the moment I realised that fact that everything started falling into place. 

I dedicate my life to beauty at “Alira Boutique Spa& Salon”, but it’s not just building your outside beauty that matters. I believe true beauty comes from within. If you feel beautiful, you look beautiful. If you believe in yourself, you work on your heart and your soul, you educate your thoughts to be nurturing and not destructive, and ultimately love and take care of your inner self, you will feel beautiful and as a result you will look even more beautiful for the world to see. It is that simple and that hard at the same time.

The thing is, for a period of my life I didn’t have or didn’t think I had the necessary tools and knowledge to get myself to the other side of my troubles and conquer them. As I searched and researched for the correct answers and solutions to my problems, I started encountering wonderful things and most importantly wonderful people in my path.

Whenever I find myself in need of a boost of inspiration or motivation I think of my dear friend Rosana Delgado. She has dedicated herself to make a change in her life and the life of many others with a simple but conscious decision: SHE LIVES IN THE NOW. Rosana and her friend Tiza have created this wonderful place where I go and recharge whenever I feel in need of a little soul uplifting: www.therealnow.com. Its a cozy website with a lot of heart, you should definitely check out. They too promote inside beauty and help you get there.

Rosana used to live here in Houston and visit our Spa very often, not too long after her first visit, she became part of the Alira family and most importantly my personal family. We ran the NYC Marathon together almost 4 years ago and we are planning on running it together again this year, on November 2^nd,; It’s going to be so much fun. 

A few weeks back she said I inspired her at some point to make her passion a way of life, today, she and her team are the one’s inspiring many others. I too feel honored my friend, and even more so, humbled by your words.

Like she said, I invite you, my dear reader, to go out there and find your passion, live your Now. Life can and will be beautiful.
